Security in Joomla! 3.x • Re: Template index.php had malware

Joomla 3 was declared End of Life in August 2023.

The reason for the security issues is likely your out of date Joomla version. If using an older version than 3.10, then we would advise you to update to 3.10.12. Downloads are available from http://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3.
Note: J3.10 is now subject to paid support only through https://elts.joomla.org/. This was only put in place as a way to assist Joomla 3.10 users to transition to Joomla 4 or 5. That ELTS ends in February 2025 at this time.

What template was used - is it third party (in which case raise the malware matter with the template provider()

Otherwise, as above, make sure you're using the most current Joomla version available.
